The Welcome Dinner at Poggio Grande

Welcome to Tuscany

We know that when you arrive at Locanda in Tuscany on October 6, 2024, chances are you are going to be exhausted!

This is why we are having the welcome dinner on the following evening, October 7, 2024. Enjoy having the first night to yourselves to do whatever you choose, whether that’s dining at Locanda, heading into town, or just going straight to bed if this is also your big travel day!

Feel rested and refreshed for the welcome dinner at the beautiful Poggio Grande the next evening!

Even on a cloudy day the view is gorgeous.

The Details

Date: October 7, 2024

Time: 6:00 p.m.

Location: Poggio Grande, → (click here for the map)

Attire: Casual

Menu: Pasta, mixed cold cuts & pecorino cheese selection, and gelato with a pairing of wines *

What to expect: To be wowed by the idyllic Tuscan setting, indulged by the delicious wines, satiated by the elegant simplicity of Italian cuisine, fulfilled by an evening of stimulating conversation and raucous laughter with the most wonderful group of guests you could ask for!

*This is not a restaurant, it’s a winery, so I’m not expecting as robust a meal as a typical Italian dinner out. I’m personally going to have a larger lunch on this day.

About Poggio Grande

Run by the Zamperini family for 5 generations, Poggio Grande (translated ‘big hill’) is an organic farm that strives to maintain Tuscan rural tradition.

Owners Luca with his daughter Giulitta manage 6 hectares of vineyards, 4 hectares of olive groves, and 20 hectares of arable land where they grow ancient grains such as Senator Cappelli flour and stone-ground buckwheat to produce their organic pasta.

For those of you wondering how big a “hectare” is, 1 hectare = 2.47105 acres.

This means that Luca and Giulitta manage approximately 74 acres every day!

Their products include pasta, olive oil, and the one I’m looking forward to the most…WINE, which they’ve been producing since 1999.

Even if you don’t indulge in the wine, this will be an evening to remember!

I found this cute video on YouTube ↓ (turn the captions on) featuring Giulitta of Poggio Grande.

Saluti!
